Jailed Mom Still has Parental Rights - Union Leader Headline

An article appeared on the unionleader.com on November 1st, by Union Leader Correspondent Kimberly Houghton.

The headline read as in the post title, Jailed Mom Still has Parental Rights

Please feel to read, but the short version is Unique Gould of Nashua is serving 12 - 30 years for the beating to death of her young son.  When pleading guilty to Manslaughter in March of 2014, she was pregnant with another child.  She gave birth to a daughter five months after she reached a plea in the murder of her son.

Gould's infant daughter is now 14 months old living in foster care.  But Gould still has parental rights to the little girl.

In the current environment and NH law, if Unique Gould is released from prison with in the next 11 years, that child will be forced into a killer's arms.

This is further proof that in New Hampshire, the current laws are more concerned about parent rights rather than the well being of children.  A very dangerous place for children.

With the help of this young girls extended family, Rep. Katherine Prudhomme O’Brien as proposed a bill that would amend the Child Protection Act to terminate parental rights of a parent who has been convicted of manslaughter or the murder of another child.

This is what I do not want to wait for.  To receive news that my daughters are dead before laws change concerning drug addicts.
